CAN
GOD APPROVE YOU? By Harrison
Before God uses a person He first approves the person. How
can God approve you unless He test you.
Lets consider two disciples of Jesus that is Peter and Judas
Iscariot.
Peter was a fisherman when he was called, you can conclude
that He was not learned. - He was a simple man.
Judas Iscariot was an intelligent man. From the fact that he
was the treasurer of the group.
GOD TESTED THEM ON ATTITUDE
TOWARD MONEY:
PETER
LK 5:1-11
This is during the calling of Peter. He gave Jesus His boat
to use without demanding for payments.
I think if it was a
today’s Christian he could ask jesus for partnership. He could have said ‘Jesus
you do the praching and I support you with finances’.
WHAT HE DID:
Peter gave up his business.
He did not settle in the prosperity. Sometimes God prospers
you to test whether you will follow Him or you will settle in the prosperity.
Prosperity is test.
The same peter said later after years that “ silver and gold I do not
have” ACTS 3:6
This does not mean that his wallet was empty but he had
something better to offer than silver and gold.
JUDAS AND MONEY:
LK 6:16 “ Judas who
became a traitor” meaning that he was just like any other disciple before he
became a traitor.
Being the treasurer he had a good chance to prove his
faithfulness. Maybe he could have become like one writer of the Epistles
Judas was like Manna Leitao from the HALF A DAY AND OTHER
STORIES.
WHAT HE DID:
JH 12:4-6
HE stole all the money and pretends to care about the poor
and the needy.
We may ask why Jesus doesn’t expose those who make money in
the name of Christianity.
But I wish Judas had an idea of what he was going to miss in
the name of money.
TWO TYPES OF
CHRISTIANS:
1. Those like Peter those who love to give.
2. Those like Judas who love to receive and
keep for themselves.
What did Jesus say
about giving LUKE 6:38 “give and it will be given back to you: a good measure,
pressed down, shaken together. Running over. For the measure you use will be
the measure you receive.”
ATTITUDE WHEN REBUKED
PETER.
Mathew 16:22-23 ‘get
behind me Satan!....”
Being rebuked was different from being called Satan.
Being called Satan is more painful.
He was not offended.
Our ability to accept rebuke is a test of humility.
JUDAS
JH 12:7-8 rebuked
Math 26:14-15
what he did after rebuke use of ‘THEN’.
God test your reaction.
YOU ARE AN OVERCOMER BE BLESSED.
