ROM 8:15B ‘….But ye
have received the spirit of adoption, whereby we cry Abba Father.’
You have not received a spirit that makes you _as_ fear full
slaves.
GALATIANS 4:4-6 ‘that
He could adopt us as His very own children, …’*
Adoption is a Greek word huiothesia, meaning ‘to Place as a
Son’.
Adoption has no reference to an orphan. When the state
drafts a constitution they set a day to adopt the new constitution.
This word huiothesia was referring to those young men who
have reached adulthood.
When young man grew to full age in Israel and and has
demonstrated the ability to bear responsibility, there came a day when His
father in a public ceremony ‘PLACED HIM AS A SON’.
Everything changes for this young man after his adoption.
THREE WORDS
USED FOR A SON:
TEKNION –a baby
son. / Infant
TEKNON – A mature
son but not ready for responsibility.
HUIOS – one ready
for responsibilities. Who has gone through the adoption.
GAL 4:1,2 “The heir, as long as he is
a child, differeth nothing from a servant, though he {is destined to} be Lord
of all; but {the child} is under tutors and governors until the time appointed
of the father {adoption}.
THE RIGHT TO
BECOME:
JOHN1:12 ‘but as many
as received him, to them gave he power {authority, privilege or right} to become
the sons of God…….’
They were not made sons of God but were given
power/right/permission to become.
In traffic when a
green light shows, we all know that you have been given permission to go ahead,
but if your vehicle fails to start, you do not have POWER to go even though you
have the authority {right, permission} to go.
When we received Christ we were given right, permission or
authority to become the sons of GOD.
The children of Israel were given right to inherit the Promised
Land but because of unbelief they perished in the wilderness. They did not
become what they had the authority to become.
As a son of God you can only get this power by reading the
word of GOD. *UNLOCKING THE POWER*
Thank God we are promised the power to become sons of God.
THREE STAGES OF
GROWTH FROM JESUS’ LIFE:
1. We first see Jesus in the manger.
Little is said of him.
2. We can then see him in the temple at
the age of 12years. Little is recoded about him.
3. At the age of 30years He appears in
river Jordan to be baptized. His adoption took place. Math 3:17, luke 3:22, - ‘This
is MY BELOVED SON, hear him!’
Know hear we see Jesus as a Son of God ‘…. the firstborn
among many brethrens....’ Rom 8:29
*heavens were opened* the heavens that for years were
closed, they were open to release healing for the sick, sight for the blind,
forgiveness for the sinners, hope for the hopeless, life for the death.
PRIVILEGES OF
SONSHIP
*The power of attorney.[use of fathers name} jh 5:43 ‘ I
come in my Father’s name’.
*he receives inheritance [use of father’s wealth].
